A menorah is meant to be seen. So we put ours on a car and drive it around Chanukah, parked where the kids already are. One night, we stop and build menorahs together.

First night on the road: Saturday, December 5, after Shabbat

Spot the car anywhere within about 25 minutes of Freehold: Monmouth County and the nearby edges of Middlesex and Ocean. Post your kids’ menorah in the parents’ group.
Anchor night
Build a menorah.
Sunday, December 6, 5 pm. The stop is posted in the parents’ group that afternoon.
The one craft of the season: every child builds a menorah to take home and light. Free, while supplies last.
Forecast for Freehold, anchor night
The forecast shows up here about two weeks before.
* Weather permitting. We’re outdoors in December. If there’s heavy rain or snow, ice, or wind over 25 mph, we move the anchor night to the next road night and post it in the parents’ group by 2 pm that day.

Season 1 was one car, one menorah, one snowy night in Alberta. Season 2, last year, brought it to Freehold, NJ, and into the Asbury Park Press.
